Obesity is a national problem, not only with humans but with cats too. Make feeding time fun and active to help prevent your cat from becoming obese. Below are some tips.

Should I be feeding my cat a certain type of food?
Ask your veterinarian when choosing the type of food you give your cat.

How can I keep my cat from waking me up in the middle of the night?
To keep your cat from waking you up at night, feed your cat the largest meal of the day before you go to sleep.

What should I do if my cat is not eating?
Contact your veterinarian if your cat has not eaten in 24 hours.

I'm training my cat by using treats to reward good behavior. How does that affect her diet?
Set aside a portion of your cat's regular diet for treats. Limit the amount given to less than 10 percent of his or her total diet. Be sure to include all family members, so your cat is not overfed.

How much food should I feed my cat?
Ask your veterinarian how much your cat should eat.

What should I do to keep my cat from begging me for food?
Feed your cat the largest meal when you're at home to keep it from begging for food.

  • Purchase cat puzzle feeders, interactive toys or food balls to help get your cat moving at dinner time.
  • Toss kibbles on the floor and let your cat chase after them.
  • Bring out the hunter in your cat by hiding food around the house and letting him search for it.
  • If you are unable to feed your cat multiple times in a day, feed your cat at least twice daily and hide his or her food in creative places.
